Father's Day is just a couple of days away! Need some fun, inexpensive gift ideas? Here are some easy ways to help kids show their love and appreciation.
Dad's Coffee.
Have kids create a Coffee mug for Dad using enamel paints on a white mug (which can be purchased at a craft store) to create a special message or picture expressing their appreciation for Dad. Bake mug in the oven as directed on the back of the enamel paint.
Colorful Paper Weight.
Create a paper weight for Dad's desk by allowing children to paint on a large smooth rock using acrylic paints. Older children may enjoy using decorative papers and Mod Podge to decorate their rock.
"I love Dad!" Photo.
Create a special photo by taking a picture of your child holding up a sign he or she made saying, "I love the way Dad…" or "I love Dad because…" Frame the photo and give it to Dad on his special day.
Heartfelt Card.
Help kids express their feelings in a card by giving them starter sentences like
"I think you are so cool because…"
"I love the way you…"
"One of my favorite things to do with you is…"
"You are so good at…"
Dad's Day Movie.
Grab your video camera and make a movie clip for Dad. Check your computer for editing software that makes putting clips and music together simple. Check for Windows Movie Maker if you're using a PC or Apple iMovie for Macs.
Best Dad Award.
Help kids create an award plaque for Dad. Letting you child choose what the award is for will make the gift even more unique and special. You can give the award for special traits like
Best Fisherman
Most Cuddly Dad
Smartest Dad
Best Handyman
"The Way to a Man's Heart..."
Help kids make a special treat or meal for Dad.
Day Off.
Allow Dad to have the day off by allowing each child to take over a Dad Job and to find little ways to serve him during the day.
Don't forget to write the child's name and the date on the back of their special gift. These gifts will make Dad smile for years to come!
