“I just feel overwhelmed!”

It’s a common refrain heard from busy moms.

With all that we juggle every day - from our hectic schedules, rebellious toddlers or teens, struggling marriages (or singleness), to daily bill paying, grocery shopping, and perhaps working outside the home. The list goes on and on.

And as moms, don’t we want to just do it all “right”?

I know that if I’m not consistently casting my burdens and anxieties on the Lord (1 Peter 5:7), feelings of hopelessness will inevitably follow.

In his excellent book entitled A Journey to Victorious Praying, author William Thrasher makes the following points:
  • God will not give us more than we can handle. (Other people might do that, or we might do it to ourselves, but not our loving Father).
  • Time with the Lord is not “spent”; it is “invested.” (I love that!)
  • If we do invest time with Him, He will never allow us to be “irresponsible."
So if you’re tempted to skip your time with Him because you’ve got “too much to do,” remember that we serve a God who has an infinite supply of wisdom and love and grace to lavish on us, and He is just waiting to carry those burdens for us.

All we have to do is come.

Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken. Psalm 55:22
