Messages

"Bing, BING, bing," my ringtone chirped. I instinctively reached in my pocket and pulled out my phone to read the new text message awaiting me. This familiar sound calls to me often throughout the day alerting me to incoming messages.

My life is also filled with other kinds of messages – from television images to musical lyrics, from chirping tweets to ringing phones, from noisy, fun-filled playdates to sleepy preschool crying. Not to mention the messages which can at times originate in my own mind with subject lines like “to do” or “should have done.”

But there is another message that can cut through all the noise. It is the one awaiting me in God’s Word each day. It is personal and powerful. It gives me authoritative and relevant direction for parenting and for living. And perhaps most importantly, it provides me with a standard by which to evaluate all other messages.

Like my ringtone, God’s Spirit calls to me throughout my day too, pointing me to His Word. The text of this Message is unfailing truth. Let's prioritize spending time in His Word each day so we can hear His voice and respond to His truth!
